Travel Head-Smackers – 5 Tips from Sundance Vacations
I’m sure you’ve been told to give yourself enough time to pack before you plan to depart to your destination. Sundance Vacations offers these five tips to help you decide what you absolutely should pack and how to pack.
1. Snacking is a Way of Life
Delays happen. If you get caught on the runway or on a bus without some tummy tamers, it can be the difference between an awful or a great start to your vacation. Throw some granola bars, chips, or fruit snacks into your bag in case you’re caught in a situation where it may be some time before you get to eat again.
Make sure you have backup plans in case your intended activities get cancelled in an emergency or because inclement weather. You wouldn’t want to go scuba diving during a thunderstorm, so please be sure that you have a full list of activities you want to try, just in case something prevents your vacation from going according to plan.
Packing light can be a great way to avoid checking bags or clogging up closet space. Make sure you research the weather to make sure that you’ve packed appropriately. Many accommodations also offer laundry facilities, giving you the option to refresh your wardrobe on an extended stay.
If you do have to check a bag, be sure that you packed all of your important items (toiletries, prescriptions, medications, undergarments, etc.) in your carry on. Accidents happen and bags can be lost or delayed. Don’t get caught without the bare necessities. Pack your key items in a carry-on.

These are all great packing ideas. I would like to add one more travel tip for long flights or long drives. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. One other thing I do that makes me feel betetr when on long flights or long drives is to hydrate my skin with body lotion. It is refeshing and will make you feel more awake and alert when getting to your destination. But remember if you are flying be sure your hand cream or body lotion is only 3oz. and inside a 1 quart zip lock bag. Enjoy your travels!
I really like tip #3. I’m THE worst packer. I always take more than I need, and I must admitt I’m definitely the annoying traveler who gets her back taken apart and holds up the line at security. I have to work on that.
Regarding packing, we always forget do take very basic things, which we realize when we are on train or plane. Medicines should be checked carefully for their expiry date.
