Sundance Vacations Founders John and Tina Dowd are currently attending the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) conference in Orlando, Florida.
ARDA promotes the growth and development of the travel industry through a variety of capacities: Advocacy, Networking, Business Partnerships/Bridge-Building, Outreach, Knowledge, and Support/ Development. ARDA and its members are committed to the highest standards and ethics in resort, vacation, recreational, residential and community development for the benefit of the public.
The Dowd’s are at the conference receiving the latest industry news and learning new techniques that might be valuable to the company. While many companies have been forced to close their doors due to the recession and banking crisis, Sundance Vacations remains thankful for our position in the market. One bit of good news that I have heard is that airfare prices should drop in 2009. During 2008, airline prices soared through the roof due to the increase of crude oil prices. In 2009, with the the decrease in the price of jet fuel and the competitive market of airlines trying to fill their seats, we should be seeing some good deals.
I have read that the best day to book a flight to try to receive the best price is Wednesday morning. I have heard that the best time is 12:30am.
Last summer we visited Myrtle Beach. Airfare prices were quite expensive so we opted to take the 10 hour drive. This year I have found non-stop roundtrip prices from the area to Myrtle Beach for about $150!! This is great news for travelers!
