Sundance Vacations Celebrates Annual Company Picnic

Picnic Group Shot As you walk through the gate and hand the attendant your ticket, you can sense the excitement. You can hear screams and laughter, you can smell the mouth-watering French fries, and you can feel the hot sun beating on your face, tempting you to run to the nearest log floom ride. If you haven’t guessed, I’m talking about Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pa.

Sundance Vacations celebrated their annual company picnic for all East Coast employees at Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom on Sunday, July 12th. If you were at the park, you couldn’t miss a Sundance Vacations employee or one of their guests, as they all sported blue T-shirts with the bright orange and yellow Sundance Vacations logo and their Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania pins. This year, 900 employees and their family members came out to enjoy the festivities, which increased from only 600 last year. “At the first company picnic, we only had 20 employees, and you could remember everyone,” recalls Sundance Vacations Founder Tina Dowd. “Our current size makes that a lot more difficult. However, I take advantage of the opportunity to meet and greet everyone,” added Dowd.

Sundance Vacations gave away prizes to children and employees. Prizes varied from IPod Nanos to Cool Pix Digital Cameras. The weather was perfect, and I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a great time! Thank you Sundance Vacations!!

What did you like most about the Sundance Vacations annual picnic at Dorney Park? What was your favorite ride this year?

I wasn’t at the first Sundance Vacations company picnic where John was flipping burgers for 20 people. But I can remember a company picnic several years ago being held at a grove in the Poconos of about 75 people. At that time time I thought, “Wow, what a nice turnout”. As I sat under the pavilion this year and looked around, I was in awe with the attendance and the amount of smiling faces. While walking around the park it was a sea of blue Sundance T-shirts. The roller coasters are always my favorite ride in the park. Steel Force is the best. But, I’d have to say what I like most about the picnic itself is watching everyone squeeze together on the hill to try to fit in the company photo!

Thats a nice picture! I know exactly what picnic your talking about Candy! I also like Steel Force, but I think I like Hydra and Talon a little more. I couldnt bring myself to go on Poessessed! My daughter wanted to go on and I just kept saying “Oh the line is too long, we’ll come back to it” I couldnt let her know it made me nervous! Did anyone go on it? Was it as scary as it looked?

I had a great time at the Sundance Vacations annual picnic. The weather was perfect, and the crowd was fun. I don’t have a favorite ride at Dorney Park. I like them all! I was glad to see everyone, and I look forward to the next Sundance get together – the Christmas party!

I just enjoyed the whole day. The company, the rides and, of course, the food! My favorite ride is the Steel Force. However, I was impressed by Possessed. It is a much smoother ride than it looks.

This picnic was outstanding! I brought my 2 little children and we had a blast. As usual the attendance was phenomenal. Sundance Vacations has the greatest group of employees, a big second family! ;)

My children are STILL talking about the trip to dorney park and they are still fighting over the doodle pro they won LOL. They look forward to this every year for 3 years now, (I tried to hide it this year but they know it’s coming!) The picnic is definitely one of the highlights of their summer! Thanks for affording us such an awesome time, and so many wonderful memories.
