Anticipation to Vacation in St. Lucia

When thinking about vacations which I do every day at Sundance Vacations, a few things come to mind; relaxation, spending quality time with loved ones, the beach, golf, funny drinks with umbrellas in them, and no set routine. Although all of those things are great, I do have to say my favorite part is the anticipation. The countdown!! 12 days..11 days..10 days..9 days to go. Getting passports ready, shopping for vacation clothes, cleaning my golf clubs, packing, finding out who’s going to take care of the dogs. To many people this part is stressful. However, for me it’s like Christmas morning when I was 8 years old. Just the thought of what’s about to happen gets me excited.

In the beginning of June I and my girlfriend Helena booked an Excess Inventory week to the Village Inn and Spa in St. Lucia. Yes! That’s right $198 for 8 days 7 nights in a resort that retails for $180 a night. This will be our first full week vacation together in 3 years. Since booking the trip I’ve been doing a lot of research on the Island. There is so much we are looking forward to. The Village Inn and Spa is an all-inclusive resort, a number of restaurants and bars at the resort itself. St. Lucia had a drive in volcano. I can’t wait to zip line. The thought of being harnessed to a cable zipping from tree to tree in the jungle is exhilarating. The resort also offers 3 rounds of complimentary golf at St. Lucia’s champion golf course to any guests that stay 5 nights or more.

There’s so much to look forward to. That to me is what anticipation is all about. We leave on August 2nd and return on August 9th. I defiantly will not blog to all of you while on vacation. NO WAY. However, when I return I’ll tell you all about it.

I have to agree with you Danny. The anticipation is a great part of a great vacation. However, let me add that the “post vacation” is just as much fun… talking about everything that you experienced and all the fun you had when you were on vacation to all of your friends and coworkers when you get back… showing the great pictures that you took when you were there (for me it was all the fish that were caught.. and talking about the one that got away!) I and my family just got back from Marco Island, Florida… staying at the Riverside Club, which is right on the Marco River… we saw Dolphins every day right from our balcony!! Have a great time in St. Lucia!! I am sure you will.. and take many pictures to extend your vacation after you get back!!

Danny, I agree the planning and anticipation is exciting. It’s so much fun to see what a vacation destination has to offer. I always like to read what Frommer has to say about somewhere I may be traveling. Have you checked out the site? http://www.frommers.com/destinations/stlucia/
I like the fast fact section.

I was excited to see your post today as I will be visiting St. Lucia in September. We will only be there for a day as it is just one of the five islands we will be visiting while on an eight day cruise. I was interested in the drive in volcano as one of our shore excursions. Be sure to let me know what other “must see”, “must do”, or “must eat or drink” that I can squeeze into the few hours we will be there. I’m looking for ward to your next post.

Have a great time and be sure to take lots of pictures! The countdown is on…..

Dan-O, I definitely understand the whole anticipation process, it’s the best part about a vacation. It feels like the days are going so slow as you’re counting down, until you actually get there- then time flies! Seeing volcanoes and mountains at a resort like St. Lucia is not something that too many city people can say they’ve done. Blew my mind when I was in Hawaii. I hope you and Helena have a ball and enjoy yourselves. Take it easy on her at the golf course!

I work in the Wilkes barre office and live in the Poconos. I was in the Mt Pocono shopping ctr over the weekend and over heard some people talking about their vacation. They had nothing but praise for their accomdations, the service and their program. They were telling this to the cashier and others on the line began asking questions. I was suprised but very proud to find out they were refering to Woodfield Manor and the Sundance program. If I had the materials, I could have signed people up right there! It’s wonderful to see your product so apreciated and valued first hand. By the way, I never mentioned I worked for Sundance.

Hello from St. Lucia. Myself and my husband Dennis enrolled with TAN in August of 1999 in East Rutherford, NJ. We’ve been on nine vacations and in 2007 upgraded to VIP in Myrtle Beach, SC. We are currently at the Village Inn And Spa in Rodney Bay where we met Danny McGowen and Helena Castellano. Danny begged me to blog on the sundance website for all to see. We told them that we would never have been able to travel as much as we have if it wasn’t for TAN. We are also on an excess inventory week just like Helena and Danny. Danny and my husband Dennis went golfing today at St. Lucia Golf and Country Club where they had a great time, Danny said it was like nothing he’d ever experienced before. We told him that your company should get property in Tortola BVI again and that Tortola would blow him away! We are looking forward to our second time in Hilton Head in the end of September. Keep doing a great job Danny,Helena and all you Sundancers.
