Welcome to Joomla!
Sundance Vacations is moving up on the information super highway ladder. Sundance Vacations IT Staff have been working on creating a companywide Intranet. The brand new Intranet is powered by Joomla!. The company Intranet will provide a mainstream way for all employees to receive company information. Joomla! offers many great tools to allow Sundance Vacations to find out what their employees like or dislike. Users will have the option to view breaking news on the front page, to downloading time off request forms. Employees will now be able to access and view handbooks and other useful company information. Joomla! will provide a companywide calander as well as a Permission Marketing Calander. These calanders will provide important dates and allow employees to see what events Sundance Vacations will appear at. Stay tuned as Joomla! is still in its infancy stage. Details will be provided once the site becomes available for employees.
Do you have any ideas for the new Joomla! Intranet? What would you like to see?
I would like to see a section that is titled “Out of the Office”. It would list anyone not in the office for the day due to absence, vacation, or even if they are attending a work related event. I think this site will be a powerful tool to keep all employees updated and aware of everything going on within the company. I can’t wait to start using it. is there any scheduled date for implementation yet?
Candy that is a great idea and we hope to implement it sometimes in the near future.
We do not have an implementation date as of yet as we are working on quite a few projects. We are hoping to release as soon as possible.
Next Thursday and Friday I will be in Manchester, New Hampshire representing the IT staff to get a crash course on how to get the most out of Joomla!.
Joomla! is a very rich program and it offers us many useful tools. The object now is to learn as much as possible and take everything we can out of Joomla! and put it together into a website that is easy for users to use and understand. A website that gets all staff the information they need in the fastest way possible.
Tina, John, Amanda and all the IT staff are very excited by the anticipation around the release of a Sundance Vacations Intranet.

That sounds great. I look forward to being able to see alot more of what is happening in the company. By being able to access company information quickly, we can better address issues and, or situations that we need answers and, or procedures to resolve. I would love to see a readable OWL! =) I also think it would be nice to have some team pictures from each of the divisions/offices. I’m excited for Joomla! it seems like its going to be promising.

It seems that Sundance Vacations employees have caught Intranet fever.
David and I were in Shamokin on Saturday and we were talking about the intranet and we thought that it would be cool to a employee spotlight section. Every month we would have a new employee answer a series of questions that way other employees can get to know their “Sundance family members” a little more no matter the distance between the offices.
Keep the ideas coming! They are great!
I would like to see a forum for marketing managers to discuss current issues within the phoneroom. I believe that having an open forum for advice would greatly benefit new managers, (such as myself) and possibly share some insight and unique experience with some of the more veteran managers. The times are changing and I believe that as the world turns managers need to be able to aptly prepare both themselves and their staff for moving into the future. What better way to do this than by sharing ideas and support with each other. No matter which office you are in we are all batting for the same team, the Sundance Vacations team! I think this level of cooperation would greatly benefit all managers both new and established.
Joomlas’ value to Sundance Vacations is endless. Since we have offices from PA to WI and points in between, passing company info on the intranet will save time and money.
I would really like to see all the forms and most important the handbook on Joomla. You never remember what you did with that book they give you when you started let’s say 4 years ago. Also people ask me for copies of forms all the time. I can’t wait until they are able to get them when they need them and don’t have to wait on me for them.
