Sundance Vacations Donates to Local School
Sundance Vacations donated a free trip from the excess inventory list to St. Aloysius Elementary school in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The school sold over 500 tickets and raised over $2,000. The money raised will help the school with expensive necessities, such as repairs.
Tina Dowd had the honor of picking the lucky winner. Gloria Sadowski of Hunlock Creek, Pa was the winner of the free trip. Her grandson Matthew Sipski a student at St. Aloysius sold her the ticket. “I forgot I even bought a ticket, and when my grandson called and told me I won, I was very shocked. I can’t wait to go somewhere warm,” said Gloria Sadowski.
Sundance has donated to numerous charities and organizations throughout the years. Do you have any favorite charity stories to share?

Sundance Vacations donates to many charaties and they are are very well deserving. I can’t really say I have a “favorite” charity story because they are all very important. It is always heart-warming when you know any small contribution can help. Outside of Sundance Vacations I chose to do all my personal donations strictly for helping animals. I make several random donations throughout the year, but I make it an annual tradition to donate a generous amount to one deserving animal charity each year on my birthday. I consider it as my birthday present to myself. It makes me feel good to know the donation will be used to help out where it is most needed at that time.
This definitely goes on the list of favorites just because of the exuberance of the students, faculty and staff. We often donate vacations to various charities but most of the time this just involves printing a certificate and receiving the winner’s name. Being invited to draw the winning ticket was much more satisfying.
One of the reasons I love working for Sundance Vacations so much is because they really do give back!! A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to participate in an event through Big Brothers Big Sisters of NEPA/ Bowl for Kids Sake. The turnout was astonishing, and the generosity of some people really amazed me! It was really nice that a team from Sundance gave up their Saturday to partake in the events! Great Job everyone!! I also just recently had the opportunity to present a complimentary vacation to a retiring WBS Penguins player Dennis Bonvie. It was such an exciting moment to be down on the ice with Bonvie during his last time playing hockey. I wouldn’t mind working EVERY saturday if I could do more events like this!!!
I do agree!! This company does so much to give back and give big!! I don’t get the opportunity to participate in as many things as I would like to but I will make that all change. I am hoping to coordinate an event to help disabled veterans and more information about that will follow, but everyone keep your ears open for the opportunity to paintball each other. Well in short, I look forward to participating in all of the 2008 charities and donations to come!
Sundance Vacations is one of the most philanthropic companys which I have worked for and being an admin asst for more yrs than I care to mention, I’ve been involved with many companys. It’s a simple thing…they just do it. From local sports programs to soup kitchens and centers for the homeless, Sundance supports each one. If an employee needs a donation of a trip to raffle or a monetary donation, Sundance gives. A local homeless shelter encountered a difficult financial situation. Some responded to this plea, but Sundance got involved. There response was “what can we do, how can we help?” Hundreds of hours were volunteered as well as thousands of dollars were received through various campaigns and events sponsored by Sundance. As the Executive Director of the homeless shelter stated, “I am proud of the facet that they not only “talk the talk” but they also “walk the walk” proudly. These examples only scratch the surface of the generosity that Sundance Vacations owners’, John and Tina Dowd have given to so many organizations and communities.
Being the charity head for the Corporate Office it has been my extreme privilege to be involved in many charity projects with Sundance Vacations. Any charity project that we work on quickly becomes my favorite. One that I remember fondly you can read on the previous blogs was when we raised much needed cash for the Kisses 4 Kyle Foundation. The organization not only touched my heart but also brought tears to the eyes of many of the staff here at the corporate office. The head of the foundation and I still keep in touch regularly and thanks to the help and generosity of Sundance Vacations and the employees we were able to help many families that had children battling terminal illnesses.
