Thursday night was another unforgettable evening at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs as “Unforgettable Fire – A tribute to U2″  fired up the crowd belting out Bono and the boys’ top hits until 10:30 PM! After the sun went down, the band surprised everyone with several unexpected encores and another $100 Free Play Winner was randomly selected by Sundance Vacations.

One of the lucky “Party on the Patio” guests who entered the drawing earlier in the evening, at the Sundance Vacations booth located in the air-conditioned lobby, instantly became $100 richer when their name was announced at the end of the event! Congratulations to Diane Protchko from Hazelton, PA.

Diane was absolutely thrilled as she posed for a quick snapshot as she was handed her $100 prize from Sundance Vacations Assistant CFO, Ron Vaccaro. Sundance Vacations is helping to heat up the summer at the Mohegan Sun @ Pocono Downs with their weekly $100 Free Play Give Away during “Party on the Patio” on Thursday nights.

Last night the Bon Jovi cover band , “Runaway”, drew in thousands of fans who all had the chance to enter to win this exciting promotion. When the music was over the fun didn’t stop! Sundance Vacations’ randomly selected the lucky winner from all the entries and 105 The River announced the winner’s name from the stage.

Kathleen was not available to pick up her prize after the show. However, she was very surprised when she received the exciting phone call on Friday afternoon. Kathleen and her two beautiful daughters visited the Sundance Vacations’ office in Wilkes-Barre, PA to pick up the fabulous prize from Administrative Assistant, Pam Fantaskey. Rumor has it that the girls were headed to Toys R US with Mom’s winnings! What a great way to kick off the weekend!

According to Executive Travel Magazine, in a 100-passenger flight at least 5 people have a cold or the flu. During the flu months, the number of ill could double or triple! How do you know if there was a sick person in your seat on the previous flight? The problem is you have no way of knowing. So please take some precautions while flying all year long. Sundance Vacations doesn’t want its travelers to get sick. Executive travel suggested bringing hand sanitizer. Putting it on before and after the flight will certainly improve your chances of not getting sick. Just remember to have only a 3 oz. container of hand sanitizer.
Another shocking study, reported by Executive Travel, revealed that some airline blankets are not washed for 5 to 30 days. For example, if a carrier is on a 30 day cycle for blanket washing and that airline has 6 flights back and forth per day, the blanket would have been used 180 times!
The likelihood that there were about 5 people on the last flight that were sick and the possibility that your blanket wasn’t washed in over a week is pretty high. So remember to pack a lightweight blanket or scarf in your carry-on bag along with a 3 oz. hand sanitizer in a clear plastic bag.

Everything these days, from cars to colleges, seems to be rated to determine what is the best. In social media, Facebookers go online and rate their friends with numbers! Well, a new company, Traxo, based in Dallas, Tx, gathers all of your travel information from the past 18 months and rates you by placing you into categories ranging from Conquistador (the highest) to a Trekker (the lowest). Traxo gives points to travelers for miles flown, miles in a car, where in the world you went, etc. – creating the Traxo Travel Score. This score is updated daily and can be viewed on your Traxo profile. You can also share your Travel Score with friends on Facebook and Twitter! Here is the best part about Traxo: they give away free certificates to users (depending on how many travel points you have)! The certificates usually count towards magazine subscriptions or car rentals. The top 1% of Traxo users, who are the Conquistadors, reap benefits ranging from 2 round trip tickets to Africa to 20-inch Briggs and Riley Baseline carry-on bags. However, there are only 5 of the bags and 1 pair of tickets, so only 6 users will receive these “elite perks.” Although the company is short on benefits, the site certainly gives you “bragging rights” in the form of your current status on Traxo!

Every trip to the airport you see that one person who is drudging along weighed down by their massive carry on. Follow these tips when packing your bags
1. First decide if you are carrying a laptop, if you are choose a bag that can easily carry the weight.
2. Don’t overload on books.
3. Make sure to have a magazine when you get reading fatigue
4. iPod, iPad, or iPhone, some method of music and games
5. Don’t forget your headphones!
6. Socks are a must, airplanes are usually kept chilly, and you wont want to walk through security barefoot, ewh.
7. Even if your destination is hot I reccomemd pants and a sweater for the flight
8. Snacks, you never know how long you will sit on the runway
9. Journal, I know its old fashioned but when all your gadgets are dead you can channel your thoughts into a journal
10. Gum is a necessity for me, after a long flight a burst of minty gum is just what I need.

Another hot cover band, “Almost Queen”, steamed up the crowd at Party on the Patio Thursday night at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Fans had another fabulous opportunity to enter to win a $100 in free play drawing from Sundance Vacations. Frank was not available to pick up his prize after the show, therefore he was contacted by phone the very next day. When we spoke to him, he sounded very surprised! After a long hard day at work, he popped into our Wilkes-Barre office on Highland Park Blvd. to relax a bit and to pick up his valuable prize which was presented by Sundance Vacations’ front desk receptionist, Mindy Gray.

Last Thursday was another fun filled night at The Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre Pa, as the Jimmy Buffett tribute band, The Landsharks, took the stage and belted out everyone’s favorite tunes to entertain all their fans Parrothead style! When the well loved band exited the stage after several encouraged encores, Sundance Vacations randomly selected a $100 free play winner from the crowd. Congratulations to Carol Musial from Ashley, Pa!

Carol was not present at the time of the drawing. She was contacted by Vice President of Business Development, Candy Bednar, bright and early the next day to make arrangements to pick up her prize at the closest Sundance Vacations office, which is located directly across from the Mohegan Sun Arena on Highland Park Blvd. Accompanied by her beautiful granddaughter, Carol (who we’ve heard makes the best Stromboli in town!) was all smiles as she stopped by the office for the winning envelope.
