A Family Affair

Hi everyone!  I’ve just learned about this blog and I’m so excited to let everyone know how great it’s been to work for Sundance Vacations. First, I have to start off by saying that my mom has worked for the company for seven years and she has never been so happier. I am the proud mother of two beautiful boys: Alex is five and Parker is three. I have been a stay at home mom for most of the past five years.  Although, as many of us know, that is a very demanding job in itself, I decided it was time for me to go back into the workforce. As I’m sure many of you know, when you’re making a decision that affects your family, you are very careful in coming to a comfortable conclusion.  My most obvious worry was whether or not I would be able to manage my home life along with my professional life. No sooner did that thought enter my mind than I thought of Judy Romanelli, a manager in the New Client Services (NCS) Department.  I knew Judy prior to working at Sundance Vacations through my mother and also from the school where we both send our children.  Judy has worked for Sundance Vacations for many years. I have admired the way she has been able to handle both her professional life and her family life and realized that I could do it too. After making the decision to indeed move back into the workforce, the first thing I wanted to do was to find out if there were any job openings in NCS. To my surprise, there was!  An interview time was arranged…I was on my way to being a working mom!! Needless to say, I got the job!!!  I have been so thrilled with everything I’ve learned.  Most of us in NCS have children and all of the ladies have been so wonderful in giving me faith that I have made the right decision.  I have learned so much from each of them and it’s been so great. We all have different personalities that somehow manage to mesh into this great, one for all, all for one, customer service team. And, I can honestly say that this is a team I am so proud to be a part of.  It’s really great to look around and see that even though most of us are working moms and similar in so many ways, we really have such different backgrounds and we are all able to learn from and to teach each other; whether it is on how to handle an upset client to what to do with a teething baby. I know without a doubt that I have made the right decision to come back to work and when things may get hard professionally or personally, I know I have this great group of woman to help me through.

Let The Gambling Begin

The time is drawing near for us to enjoy one of the benefits for working for Sundance Vacations. On Friday May 11, 2007 we will be attending the Casino Night. We are all very excited and are anxiously awaiting to see what is in store for us. The prizes started rolling in the office this week and we already have people thinking they are going to be the big winners. Casino Night is something the Dowd’s came up with years ago. It great for all of us to get out and enjoy each other outside of work have some food and drinks and of course gamble with fake money to win prizes. It doesn’t get any better then that. I just wanted to wish everyone in the Admin department “Good Luck” and have a great time. I will keep everyone up dated with who the big winners are.

Sundance Vacations “Shamokin Idol”

AS A TRAVEL COMPANY WE HAVE OUR EMPLOYEES GIVING VACATIONS AWAY ALL DAY AND THEY RARELY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ONE THEMSELVES, SO IN SHAMOKIN WE DECIDED TO CHANGE THAT. WE ARE CURRENTLY SEARCHING FOR THE "SHAMOKIN SUNDANCE IDOL". EACH DAY THE MARKETERS COLLECT VOTES FOR THEIR APPOINTMENTS AND SHOWS AND WE VOTE OFF THE PERSON WITH THE LOWEST AMOUNT OF VOTES. UNLIKE THE "AMERICAN IDOL", THE WINNER WILL NOT RECEIVE $1 MILLION DOLLARS AND A NEW CAR, BUT THE "SUNDANCE VACATIONS IDOL" WILL RECEIVE THE NEXT BEST THING. A VACATION FROM EXCESS INVENTORY! DAYSHIFT HAS 14 PEOPLE LEFT, INBOUNDS HAS 2 LEFT AND NIGHTSHIFT HAS 13 IDOL HOPEFUL’S LEFT. I AM CERTAIN THAT THEY ALL HAVE AN IDEA OF WHERE THEY WOULD LIKE TO GO WHEN THEY WIN. IT HAS BEEN FUN AND EXCITING AND HAS GIVEN EVERYONE SOMETHING EXTRA TO WORK FOR. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON THE NEW "SHAMOKIN SUNDANCE IDOLS." AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE LEFT IN THE COMPETITION:):):)

Drum Roll Please…

It was a tense morning at Sundance Vacations as the winner of the iPod was
about to be drawn. The employees in the admin department were determined to
win. Every day we would sneak in a comment or post just to be one above the
employee next to us. It became a fun game to us. Finally, the day of the
drawing was here. Angela, Kristen, and myself crowded Kathy as the name was
pulled. The winner was Angela Kinney. She was so excited she started
jumping up and down and screaming. I am glad that she won. Not only did
her dedication and hard work pay off, it definitely made her day.
Congratulations Angela!
